Warhammer 40K: Death Guard - Lord of Contagion

Next up on the painting block for my Deth Guard is one of the HQ choices, the Lord of Contagion.  This was another model from the starter set, and like most of the other models from this set, one model that does not disappoint on the amount of detail it has.  I wanted the overall look of my army to be that same dirty/grunge look, so I painted him darker than I have seen others pant the Death Guard.

It was a lot of fun to paint and model.  And overall I am happy with how he turned out.  The Lord of Contagion will make a great addition to the tabletop and should cause lots of havoc in the game.

Description of them from the book:
The most aggressive and belligerent Lords of the Death Guard take up the mantle of Contagion.  Lords of Contagion lumber into battle in filth-smeared Cataphractii Terminator armour, wielding either snarl-toothed axes taller than a man or two-handed scythes that sweep aside the foe.  They tend towards direct strategies with little in the way of cunning or subtlety, and are pugnacious commander, supremely confident in their followers' ability to absorb the worst the enemy can throw at them and still prevail.  They embody the swift-spreading plague that tears through a crowd, killing indiscriminately and leaving mounds of bodies in its wake.
Here is the Lord of Contagion datasheet:

Overall I am really happy with how he turned out, and with the new 9th Edition of Warhammer 40K coming out, I feel he will be fun to play on the tabletop.

Until next time, try to have fun, and remember its just a game.

Warhammer 40K: Death Guard - Plagueburst Crawler

Continuing on with my Warhammer 40K Death Guard Army, I decided to finish one of my Plagueburst Crawlers.  Eventually, I will be fielding up to three of these at a time, but I still need to purchase two more when my budget allows.

These function in multiple roles, you can play them holding back on the backlines, lobbing death with the plagueburst mortar.  Another way of using these is with their higher move of 9", they are pretty mobile, and you can use them a tough wall as they spew fuming death with their side sponson mounted plaguespitters.  Depending on what the new 9th edition of the Warhammer 40K game brings, the use of these may change, so we will see how that goes when they finally drop the new version of the game.

As far as building and painting, this kit was really nice to build and the painting was fun aw well.  I look forward to seeing how these do on the battlefield, as this army seems like it would be a blast to play.

Here is the official description from the Games Workshop website store:
Plagueburst Crawlers are lumbering, formidable siege tanks whose huge ram-blades, thick armour plating and daemonic energies provide them with incredible resilience. Their fearsome plagueburst mortars boast a parabolic fire arc and terrifying range, while the shells they fire combine high-radius explosives with lethal clouds of corrosive spores to inflict damage comparable to that of Imperial Demolisher cannon. The remainder of the Crawler’s weaponry is intended to slaughter the foe up close, spraying diseased slime and hails of vital shells at any who approach.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble a Plagueburst Crawler. An extremely front-heavy tracked dozer brimming with horrible weaponry, it is covered in thick armour pitted and rusting with corrosion and decay. A standout feature is the huge, spiked dozer blade, with a symbol of Nurgle proudly displayed, picked out in skulls. It bears 2 plaguespitters on the sponsons, which you can replace with the 2 included entropy cannon, and the heavy slugger at the front-centre can be replaced with a rothail volley gun – each option is equally potent, but the biggest worry to the enemy is undoubtedly the plagueburst mortar, whose targeting mechanisms and enormous barrel dominate the rear of the vehicle.
Here are the images I took of my first finished Plagueburst Crawler:
