Hordes: Legion of Everblight - Hellmouth (and other purchases)

Okay, yes, its been awhile, sorry.

Life has been really busy, but and I will try to post more.  Yes, I know, you have heard that before too, lol.

So, I really love my Legion of Everblight army.  This was my first army for Hordes, and I will always play them.  I know I have started other armies, but they will always be my go to fun army.  So, I decided I needed to expand on the models that I currently have.  So I did some researching on what others play, most popular units, solos, beasts, etc.  And then I decided, to hell with that, I want to play what I think would be fun, rather that play what other people are doing.

I have not been to Imperial Outpost for a long time, and knowing that they always have a huge stock of Warmachines and Hordes, I made the long haul trip all the way across the Valley Of The Sun to visit them.

Below is a picture of what I picked up that day.

List of what I purchased:

  • Carnivean - Ravagore - Scythean Box
    • Going to build the Scythean
  • Hellmouth
  • Strider Deathstalker
  • Fyanna The Lash
  • Thagrosh, Prophet of Everblight (Thagrosh 1)
  • The Forsaken (not pictured above)

I still want to pickup a second Hellmouth unit, and another Deathstalker, and probably a second Forsaken as well.

So, for this post, I will be focusing on the Hellmouth unit, as this is the first of the above that I completed.

The unit went together rather well, and the models were very well designed/made.  I love the way they look and could not wait to finish painting them.

As far as rules go, this unit has to be one of the most scariest units that Everblight has in its arsenal.  I love the fact that every turn you can bring back one of the Tendrils that was lost in previous turns to a max of three on the table at one time, and when you bring them in you can place them anywhere in formation of the Maw, which has a command radius of 8 inches.  The other scary and cool rule they have is the Impervious Flesh rule.  So when they are hit, the Maw or Tendrils get one less dice when trying to wound them, which make their surviveability very high.

I can't wait to get these guys on the table to enact some carnage, lol.

Below is a picture of the finished unit, all painted and based.

Until next time, keep gaming and having fun.

Warmachine: Khador Juggernaut Heavy Warjack completed

So, as stated in my last post, I started painting my Khador Battlegroup box.  I decided to start with the big guy, the Juggernaut Heavy Warjack.  This is such a cool model, and I had a blast painting him up.

I love the new colored plastics that Privateer Press is using for the new models.  It took my black base-coat very well, and did not need extra coats of that to cover the colored plastic.  Like I said in the previous post, I decided to stick with the Standard Khador Red color scheme, with some small deviations that I think look better.

In the next post, I should have both the Decimator Heavy Warjack and Lord Kozlov painted up.  Well, that's the plan anyway, so we will see, no promises, but no matter what I will have at least one done in the next couple days, and hopefully both depending on my spare time.

Below is my painted Juggernaut Heavy Warjack:

Still trying to determine where I want to go with this army.  So any suggestions on my next purchase is much appreciated.

Until next, keep gaming and always have fun.

Birthday Present: Warmachine Khador MK3 Battlegroup Box

A friend of mine bought me the Khador Battlegroup for my birthday, which is very cool since this was going to be my next Warmachine army that I wanted to start.  Trolls will be my second Hordes army soon, but for now, this will be a fun army to build, paint and play.

For the paint scheme for this army, I decided to stick really close to the original color scheme that Privateer Press uses, primary color, Khador Red.  It just fits, and after trying to think up of my own color scheme, every idea I had just didn't seem right.

I did get in a game this weekend with some friends of mine, we played at Odyssey Games in Scottsdale, Since I am new to Khador, and the fact that I don;t have any other Khador models yet, we played a 0-Point Battlegroup game.  My friend played Cygnar, and it was a fun engagement.  In the end, Khador triumphed, and put down the Cygnar caster in my first game with them, but it was a close one.

Here is a picture of the Battlegroup on the gaming table.

Getting some Warmachine Cryx Painted up (MK3)

Warmachine: Cryx

My son is also playing Warmachine/Hordes with me, and his army on the Warmachine side is the Cryx.  Its a great army, and if he was not playing them, they would probably be one of the armies in my bag.

He is still new when it comes to painting and basing, so I will be painting his Cryx army for him.  I love these models, and it will be a blast to paint and complete his army for him.  I think the next army he wants is on the Hordes side, and it will be the Skorne.  I think this will be his first army he will try to paint, with my help of course.  But your never going to learn unless you dive right in.  It will be fun to paint that army together.

So I decided to start with two of his Deathrippers and a Defiler.  I decided to kep the theme dark and a little dirty, but not too much.  I think they came out pretty good.

Defiler and two Deathrippers
I really need to buy myself a camera, I took these with my phone the picture above with flash on, and the picture below without the flash on.  Anyway, I like how they came out, and look forward to seeing them on the battlefield.

This is a good way to learn the basics by watching it through game play.

Legion of Everblight (mk3) - Getting more painting done on the models (Nephillim Bolt Thrower and Shredders)

Sorry I have not posted in awhile, but been busy with work and life in general, and I won't bore you with all the drama.

Got some more done for my Hordes: Legion of Everblight.

From the new starter box that just released, the Nephillim Bolt Thrower is done, and completed the 2 Shredders that came in that box, so now I have 6 completed and painted in total. And these go nicely with my Carnivean.

I plan on waiting until they are all completely painted before I finish the bases off.  I find that when I do that that way, they come out more consistent and look better as a group.

I really like how the Bolt Thrower came out, my camera on my phone does not take the greatest pictures, here is a closer view of the model.

Nephillim Bolt Thrower
From the new starter set, I now just have the Warlock Kryssa to paint up and the Heavy Warebeast Neraph to also paint.

Now I need to decide where to go with this army and what to pick up next.  Any suggestion leave in the comments below.

Until next time.......

Unboxing: Hordes Legion of Everblight MK3 (MKIII) Battlegroup Starter Box

Hordes Legion of Everblight MK3 (MKIII) Battlegroup Starter Box
I have been waiting for this for awhile now, and so happy that I was finally able to get my hands on one.  To start of my new MK3 upgrade of my armies, I decided to start on the Hordes side and get the Legion of Everblight Battlegroup kit.  Ever since the announcement of the new edition I have been anxiously waiting to get my hands on the first kits.  Those that were lucky enough to attend this years Lock and Load were able to get the new sets before they are released June 29th.

So, lets rip open this box and take a look at what inside:

The contents of th box are as follows:

  • 5 Models - and thier cards
    • Warlock: Kryssa, Conviction of Everblight
    • Heavy Warbeast: Neraph
    • Light Warbeast: Nephilim Bolt Thrower
    • Light Warbeast: Shredders x2
  • Basic Training Tutorial Guide
  • Battle Play Map - 2-Sided
  • Introductory Guide
  • Hordes: Primal Rules Digest
    • Mini rulebook, has all the rule and none of the flush
  • 18" Flexible/Paper Ruler
  • 4 Six-Sided Dice
  • 15 Fury Tokens
  • 3 Spell Tokens
  • Obstacle Card - Fold up rock wall to use as terrain

I love the new colored plastics they are using for each army faction, nice to see some color on the table if you decide not to paint you models right away.  Makes it easier to tell the two forces apart that way when you are first starting out.

Below is a few more shots I took of the box contents.

Closer look are the card, tokens and colored plastic minatures.
Very nice of them to include the full rules with each starter set.
This is nice for new players, great step-by-step approach to learning the basics.
I will be of course doing a follow-up post when I have built the models, and then will go over a little about their stats, etc.

Until next time, keep on gaming and always have fun doing it.

Warmachine/Hordes Demo Gaming - Got in some Gaming down at Game Depot

Sunday May 29th, 2016

Decided to get in some gaming today, so I met my Brother and my Son over at Game Depot in Tempe, Az.  My brother is new to the Gaming world, and for his first Tabletop game decided to get into Warmachine/Hordes or as we come to call it Warmahordes.  He purchased the starter battle box for the Cryx army, and has them all assembled, and even has one finished painted and based, which is very cool.

You can check out his blog by clicking the link:  Havenstead Hobbies

You can also catch his updates in my blog roll on the right-hand side of this blog when he posts updates.

Below is a picture of his army on the tabletop ready for the first game.

In his first game, he did very well, he played against my son, which also plays Cryx.  With Cryx vrs. Cryx is was an intereting first game between them.  I basically play referee for them as they are both learning the game.  My Son has some games under his belt, so it was fun to get my brother playing and teaching them both about the rules as the game progressed.  Its quite fun to Demo games for people and will be doing more demos in the future with Warmahordes, Bolt Action, Gates of Antares.

It ended up being a very fun day of gaming, and look forward to many more in the future.  Its been awhile sine I played a game at Game Depot, is a 30+ min drive for me one way, but will try to make it back here more often.

Well until next time, always play more games, and don;t stress the small stuff, its only a game.

An Unboxing of the new MKIII Battlegroup Starter Sets

So the release date for the new MKIII (MK3) will be June 29, 2016.  So looking forward to this.  Over at the Peachstate Hobby Distribution website, they sat down with someone from Privateer Press to talk about MKIII and give an unboxing for two of the factions, Trollbloods and Cygnar, as well as a look at some of the other models.

Below is the YouTube video that they released.
